Overview

 

School Support Services(schoolbased): The goal of the School Support Services program is to provide consultation, training, and support to professionals and parents as they learn to interact more effectively with children who are experiencing emotional and behavioral difficulties.

 

Community Healthlink's School Support Services professional staff includes master's level social workers, mental health counselors, and psychologists.  Staff work with students, parents and educators in more than 50 public and private schools in one dozen school districts in Central Massachusetts.

 

Services include:

  • On-site individual counseling for children and adolescents
  • Consultation to school systems and community groups
  • Family consultation
  • Access to psychiatrists (as indicated)
  • Training for school systems and community groups
  • Parent/child interventions
  • Parent/caregiver support groups
  • Workshops for caregivers
  • Information and referral to appropriate services
  • Access to the Family Resource Libraries in Worcester and Leominster

 

Experienced professional staff are skilled at developing a link between parents and educators and creating strategies that encourage and enable everyone to work cooperatively and comfortably toward common solutions.

 

Community Healthlink staff uses a nurturing and disciplined approach to help at-risk youngsters and teens deal with the issues that can distract them and prevent them from succeeding in the classroom. These services are provided at each youngster's school.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site individual therapy to children and adolescents.
  • Provide crisis and case management.
  • Consult to school personnel and community groups.
  • Consult with families.
  • Enable access to Psychiatry as indicated.
  • Demonstrate sound clinical judgment, strong communication skills and flexibility.
  • Contribute to the overall success of a multi-disciplinary team of services providers in a school setting

Qualifications

 

  • Grade 7: Clinician III: Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field required. License eligible - LMHC, LCSW, LICSW or independent psychologist
  • Minimum five (5) years experience working with children and families required.
  • Must be able to use computer based information system
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English; Portuguese/English or Vietnamese/English) written and oral skills a plus.
  • Must be able to pass a CORI background check
