Overview

MYR - Motivating Youth Recovery: is a 20-bed acute detoxification and stabilization program (up to 30 days) for adolescents 13-17.

 

The program provides medically monitored detoxification, comprehensive assessment and diagnosis, treatment, and aftercare planning and referral. MYR is a family-centered, strengths-based model that will introduce and engage the adolescent and family members to recovery.

 

MYR, through its existing connections to community services for adolescents statewide, will develop comprehensive ongoing treatment planning that will provide continued support and treatment for the adolescent and family upon returning to their community.

 

The program is licensed by The Massachusetts' Department of Public Health, Bureau of Substance Abuse Services.  A master level clinical director, nurses, master level clinicians, case managers and residential counselors staff the program. 

 

The program has 24-hour access to consulting physicians and 2 part-time psychiatrists.

Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Treatment Planning: Provide interventions as outlined in the treatment plan as assigned under supervision of Operations Manager
  • Community Living: Work with residents to assist with activities of daily living and foster a sense of safety in the community which includes self-care skills, money management and budgeting, relapse prevention, use of public transportation, problem solving and conflict resolution, and other interventions as necessary
  • Intake: Assist clinical team in the intake process as necessary
  • Family Assistance:  Assist in engagement and coordination with families of residents
  • Groups:  Lead at least one skill development or recreational group per week as assigned
  • Continuity of Care:  Attend teams and case conferences, and collaborate with other providers for designated residents.  Provide outreach as designated to community based residents
  • Routine Paperwork: Prepare daily log entries, incident reports and other required paperwork to ensure the program meets the quality assurance & licensure standards
  • Facilities Upkeep: Work with residents to maintain the residence on a daily basis including chores, bedroom upkeep, yard and other light housekeeping duties
  • Other Duties:  Perform other job related duties as assigned in order to provide quality rehabilitation services: may include transporting residents, program related errands, provision of physical assistance, close supervision of clients and related duties

Qualifications

  • Grade 5: Residential Counselor I: HSD/HiSet/GED required; Associates degree preferred and/or coursework in social work, counseling, psychology or related field preferred.

  • Grade 6: Residential Counselor II: Bachelors degree required; degree in social work, psychology or a related human services field preferred
  • Previous experience in a related field or a substance abuse field

  • Previous work with adolescents

  • All bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Awake overnight staff must be able to remain awake and alert during the overnight shift to provide a safe and healthy environment for our clients & coworkers
  • Must be able to pass a CORI (Criminal Offender Background Check)  and a an DCF/CPS (Department of Families Adam Walsh/Child Protective Services background check)
